Our second Sloword app is now live. You can find the link right on the first screen when you load Scanword (just tap the picture) or in the Settings menu under "Other Applications." Give this modern crossword alternative a try for a fresh experience.

Russian scanwords are, without a doubt, a unique global phenomenon. You won't find such a wealth of literary questions, humorous riddles, or puzzles reflecting current world events in any other language. And all this is packed into classic crosswords—it's truly remarkable. The Russian people are a people of words. They cherish their language, honor their word, and treat it as something most precious.

The app offers a variety of scanwords—both simple and challenging, some with photos, others with classic or associative clues like "one word" or "one word, two words," similar to the hints from Elder Fur. Each magazine includes one English-Russian scanword and one "holey" puzzle—you'll quickly see why it's named that. Every page features a friendly character from our cheerful family. Come join us!

All scanwords are completely free for readers. It's an annual collection: 52-53 issues, each containing 20 scanwords. A full year's worth will take up about 50 MB on your phone—images are small and text is just text. We respect your device's storage.

You don't need an internet connection to solve puzzles, provided the scanwords are already downloaded to your phone. A new issue is released every Friday. If you keep the "notifications" option enabled, you'll get a weekly reminder every Friday at 12:00 local time. Upon opening the app, new issues download automatically and won't repeat after a successful download. You can also manually download or delete any magazine individually, or use the "Settings" to download all magazines with one tap.

The core features, including access to all scanwords, are free for readers in the app. The advertiser covers the costs. They are allowed one narrow banner per page plus one interstitial ad shown before opening a scanword. Our advertiser does not interrupt your solving flow. They also generously reward readers with free hints for watching their videos.

Any reader has the option—not the obligation—to "silence" the advertiser by: a) permanently disabling ads, b) subscribing, which turns off ads for the subscription period and grants unlimited hints, or c) purchasing hints in bulk. All these options are clearly displayed in the "Shop."
