Hyper Light Breaker: A Comprehensive Guide to Resource Acquisition and Usage

Hyper Light Breaker features seven crucial resources vital for gear acquisition, permanent upgrades, enhanced survivability, and character roster expansion. This guide clarifies their acquisition and application. Resources are conveniently tracked within the inventory's items tab.

1. Bright Blood:

This common resource is obtained by defeating enemies, destroying objects, and opening crates in the Overgrowth. Selling gear to vendors also yields Bright Blood. Its uses include:

  • Acquiring Blades and Rails from corpses.
  • Opening Stashes and crates.
  • Purchasing gear from Overgrowth and Hub vendors.
  • Upgrading gear at Hub vendors.

2. Gold Ration:

Earned by completing Cycles (typically involving four deaths and depleting all Rezes). After spending all Rezes, an NPC near the Hub's Telepad requires materials to reset the Overgrowth, progressing towards Gold Ration acquisition.

Gold Rations unlock permanent upgrades via Pherus Bit in the Hub and grant access to new vendor services.

3. Abyss Stone:

Obtained by defeating Crowns (challenging bosses accessed via Overgrowth gates). Prism collection (locations marked by yellow diamonds on the map) is a prerequisite for Crown battles.

Abyss Stones enhance Sycom stats and unlock new characters during loadout confirmation before entering the Overgrowth.

4. Key:

Occasionally found in unmarked small containers within the Overgrowth. Keys bypass barriers, granting access to Stashes and Labs (subterranean areas with enemies and items).

5. MediGem:

Acquired by interacting with glowing flowers in the Overgrowth. MediGems are exchanged for Medkits at the Hub's Telepad and Overgrowth Shrines. Medkit capacity expansion (requiring one Gold Ration at Pherus Bit) is necessary before MediGem usage.

6. Core:

Found in Stashes (marked by chest icons) or crafted by combining four Core Shards. Shards are earned from Prism-rewarding enemies and unmarked lootable objects. Cores upgrade Sycom stats during loadout confirmation, boosting Breaker capabilities.

7. Material:

Primarily obtained by using Bright Blood to open gem-marked chests in the Overgrowth; additional Materials are gained by selling gear at the Hub. Materials are used to purchase gear from Hub and Overgrowth vendors.
