Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

by Thomas May 13,2025

Introducing Alexa+, the new generative AI-powered upgrade to the classic Alexa voice assistant. Now in Early Access, Alexa+ promises a more natural and flowing conversational experience. Amazon touts it as "more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." If you're eager to try out this enhanced version, you'll need one of the compatible Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, or 21. You can sign up for notifications about Early Access availability here. Once the Early Access phase concludes, Alexa+ will become a free benefit for Amazon Prime members or available to non-Prime users for $19.99 per month.

With Alexa+, you can engage in more fluid conversations and tackle a range of tasks, from managing your to-do list and checking your calendar to making restaurant reservations. The Alexa+ Early Access page highlights that "new features are being added regularly," suggesting that more enhancements and capabilities will be unveiled post-Early Access.

However, not all devices will support Alexa+ right away. Older models such as the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will stick with the original Alexa. Amazon assures users that "We will soon expand Alexa+ to more devices, including Fire TV and Fire tablets, and Alexa.com."
