Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

by Audrey Apr 20,2025

As if fans could resist seeing Alicia Silverstone slip back into that iconic yellow and plaid ensemble. The beloved actress is reportedly set to reprise her role as the inimitable Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series, slated for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is currently in development, though plot details remain under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone is on board, the show will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film, and it boasts an impressive creative team. This project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020.

The writing team for the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, along with Jordan Weiss. These three will also executive produce the series, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are set to produce the show.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to the small screen. Following the film's success, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her enthusiasm for diving back into Cher's world. And who could blame her?
