American Dad returns to Fox in 2026 midseason

by Christopher Oct 04,2025

It's happening again. Seth MacFarlane's American Dad is making its grand return to Fox, officially scheduled for a network revival in 2026 alongside new episodes of MacFarlane's other flagship series, Family Guy.

A Homecoming for Fan-Favorite Series

The midseason return marks a full-circle moment for both shows, which originally aired on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before moving to TBS through March of this year. This strategic move reinforces Fox's commitment to maintaining a strong foothold in primetime television programming.

"Building on our winning position in both key demographics and co-viewing this season, Fox presents a 2025-26 schedule packed with irreverent humor and must-see entertainment," Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade stated in an official release. "Next year more than ever, we're delivering on that promise with a phenomenal lineup designed to engage audiences across linear TV, Hulu, and other platforms."

Fox's Expanding Digital Landscape

Fox continues to innovate its content distribution strategy, recently announcing the launch of its new streaming service, Fox One. This unified platform will combine news, sports, and entertainment programming - offering both live streaming and on-demand access to Fox's complete content library. The service will also feature an optional bundle with Fox Nation within the same platform.

While an exact premiere date for American Dad's Fox return hasn't been announced, fans can rest assured the wait will be worth it. When the time comes, the series will likely be available across multiple platforms including the new Fox One service - though official confirmation is expected sometime next year.
