Arc Raiders Shares New Tease for Upcoming Event 'Cold Snap' and It Looks Deadly

Arc Raiders is bracing for a "cold snap" that's scheduled to hit on December 16.

As previously announced by developer Embark Studios, the Cold Snap update arriving in December introduces Snowfall—a new map condition—alongside the Flickering Flames event, fresh quests, and an additional raider deck (the game’s version of a battle pass).

What exactly does the Snowfall map condition entail? While details are still under wraps, Embark shared an image showing what looks like a fallen raider in the snow. This suggests that the freezing temperatures might pose more than just minor inconveniences. One fan humorously noted: "I can’t wait to have all of my s**t stolen by players camping in snowy basement extraction points."

Cold Snap marks the final update on Arc Raiders' content roadmap for 2025, with Embark yet to reveal plans for 2026. The previous patch, released in late November, addressed a "very hot fix for locked room exploits." And they weren't exaggerating, as players had been exploiting bugs to access restricted rooms prior to the update.

Arc Raiders achieved significant commercial success, selling over 4 million copies globally within just two weeks of launch. Publisher Nexon also announced that the extraction shooter peaked at a massive concurrent player count of 700,000 across all platforms. Its popularity even led to a surprise crossover appearance in South Park, which was developed in merely a few days.
