Atelier Resleriana Global EOS Announced: Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator
It's a sad day for fans of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, as Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced that the global version of their RPG will soon reach its end-of-service (EOS). Despite its global launch in January 2024, the game struggled to maintain its player base, leading to this unfortunate decision. We'll delve into the reasons behind this EOS later on.
However, it's worth noting that the Japanese version of the game continues to thrive, with no plans to shut down in the near future. Launched in September 2023, it's already preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025. This stark contrast highlights the differing fortunes of the game's versions across regions.
When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?
In a twist of fate, the global version's EOS is scheduled for March 28th, 2025, the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary. While Japanese players will be advancing to Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1).
The in-game purchase system has been disabled, but players can still use their Lodestar Gems until the game's final moments. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events leading up to the shutdown, ensuring players can enjoy their remaining time with the game. Ironically, the global version had just celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th, making the EOS announcement even more bittersweet.
Why Is It Shutting Down?
The developers have cited their inability to maintain the game at a satisfactory standard for players as the reason for the shutdown. Indeed, the game faced significant challenges in engaging its audience. Just a couple of months after its launch, players began voicing concerns over the gacha system, which, despite featuring fantastic main characters, was marred by issues with gameplay, monetization, and severe power creep.
These factors ultimately led to the decision to end the service of Atelier Resleriana's global version. If you wish to bid farewell to the game, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
