New Batman Game in Development by Rocksteady Studios: Rumor

by Nova May 02,2025

According to renowned journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed studio Rocksteady is currently developing a brand-new single-player Batman game. While details are still under wraps, Schreier has not specified whether this game will serve as a prequel, a continuation of the beloved Arkham saga, or a completely new venture set in an alternate universe. However, an insider source has hinted that the project might be centered around "Batman Beyond," immersing players in a futuristic Gotham with plans for an expansive trilogy. Fans can look forward to experiencing this new title on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series has been celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could represent Rocksteady's most ambitious and visually striking project to date. Transitioning to Batman Beyond also addresses a significant challenge: the iconic voice of Batman. Following the passing of the legendary Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio may opt to focus on characters like Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal had planned for their canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.

Rocksteady's most recent endeavor, an online shooter, faced challenges as it did not resonate well with players, ultimately leading to its failure. The studio had to abandon its post-launch plans within a year, concluding the story with a hastily produced animation that reversed some of the most contentious plot points and revealed that fallen heroes were actually clones.

Now, Rocksteady is returning to its roots by focusing on a new solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that this highly anticipated project is still several years away from release.
