BG3 Patch 8: Massive Update Requires Stress Testing
Larian has launched a Stress Test update to prepare for the monumental Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3. This pre-release testing phase is crucial to ensure that the upcoming patch, which is one of the final major updates for the game, runs smoothly upon its official release. Dive deeper into what the stress test entails and what exciting features Patch 8 will bring.
Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes
Only Available To Testers
Larian has released an update for the Patch 8 Stress Test, addressing several bugs, crashes, and scripting errors. A notable fix ensures that Gale correctly consumes magical items as intended. This update is exclusively available to those participating in the stress test, meaning only testers on the specified consoles can download and experience these improvements. Those not involved in the testing will need to wait for the fully polished Patch 8 to enjoy the new content and fixes.
Key updates include fixes for containers in inventories retaining their contents upon destruction, enhanced screenshot capabilities in Photo Mode for Steam Deck users, more responsive character poses, improved cross-play functionality, updated Booming Blade tooltip values, and resolutions for multiple crash issues. For a detailed rundown of all the enhancements, visit the official Baldur's Gate 3 website's news section.
As one of the last significant updates from Larian before moving on from the world of Faerûn, Patch 8 promises to be a substantial release. It will introduce cross-platform play, over 12 new subclasses such as the Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter, alongside the much-awaited Photo Mode.
Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be
While eagerly awaiting Patch 8, players can get a comprehensive look at the new Photo Mode through an in-depth sneak peek video. Larian aims to help players maximize the potential of Photo Mode right from the start.
Photo Mode is incredibly versatile, accessible almost anytime—during adventures, in combat, and even in multiplayer sessions by the host player. You can arrange your companions and characters in any pose you desire, whether solo or with the entire party, and even include whimsical elements like a jumping frog taking center stage. The free-moving camera adds to the flexibility, allowing you to capture the perfect shot from any angle.
Enhance your photos further with a variety of post-processing effects, stickers, and frames. Note, however, that during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, you can only apply post-process effects and cannot adjust poses.
This sneak peek is just the beginning. Larian plans to follow up with a tips and tricks video, offering more ways for players to unleash their creativity and become skilled in-game photographers.
