Bloodborne Revival Rumors Intensify as Capcom Posts Mysterious Images
Years of fervent pleas from Bloodborne fans for a remastered version of the FromSoftware classic have reached a fever pitch thanks to recent Instagram activity.
Instagram Posts Reignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Game Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite, with many eager to revisit Yharnam on modern consoles. While no official announcement exists, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring the game have sparked intense speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the "#bloodborne" hashtag. One image featured Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam; the others depicted the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.
While these could simply be nostalgic nods, dedicated Bloodborne players on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for clues hinting at a remaster. The timing, particularly with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, only fuels the anticipation.
PlayStation Italia's post (translated) asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting a flood of comments expressing a desire for Yharnam's return to modern consoles or even PC.
The Hunt for Bloodborne Continues: Almost a Decade On
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a dedicated fanbase and widespread critical acclaim, often cited among the greatest video games ever created. Yet, neither a sequel nor a remaster has materialized.
Fans point to the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent. However, the lengthy wait for that remake tempers their excitement, leading to concerns that Bloodborne might face a similar, decade-long delay. As the game's tenth anniversary approaches, the desire for a remaster is stronger than ever.
Fuel was added to the fire in a February interview with Eurogamer, where director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the advantages of remastering Bloodborne for modern hardware, citing improved accessibility for a wider audience.
Despite Miyazaki's encouraging words, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring (a FromSoftware IP), Bloodborne's publishing rights are held by Sony, limiting Miyazaki's ability to comment definitively on the matter. He has stated in interviews with IGN and elsewhere that he cannot discuss Bloodborne specifically due to the IP ownership situation.
The passionate Bloodborne community eagerly awaits a remaster. Despite the game's success, its availability remains limited to the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality remains to be seen.
