Broken Sword: Reforged Revives the Iconic Adventure

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged has finally arrived. Those who remember the original 1996 game or the 2009 Director's Cut will already know the core story. Continue reading to learn what's changed in this new release.

Broken Sword has been Reforged

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged removes the additional chapters from the Director's Cut. This means the sections that expanded Nico's role and gave her more independence are no longer included. She returns to her original role as a secondary character who occasionally appears with helpful items.

The new version focuses on remastering the original narrative in high definition. It features fully upgraded HD and 4K visuals, enhanced audio, and is optimized for Chromebooks with keyboard and mouse support. External controller compatibility is also included.

Broken Sword: Reforged is fully playable offline, includes Google Play Cloud Save, and has no advertisements or in-app purchases. It's a single one-time payment, currently available at a 30% launch discount for $6.99 instead of the regular $9.99.

Played the Original?

If you haven't, here's a quick summary. The story begins in Paris, where American tourist George Stobbart sees a café bombing. A clown carrying a briefcase sets a dramatic series of events into motion.

These events send George, and later French journalist Nico Collard, on a journey across Europe. They uncover layers of conspiracy linked to the ancient Knights Templar.

The game retains its classic point-and-click gameplay. You explore diverse locations, interact with quirky characters, gather various items, and use them—sometimes in unexpected ways—to solve puzzles.

While some puzzles are ingenious and rewarding, others can be more challenging. Certain areas remain inaccessible until you've progressed elsewhere on the map.
