The latest Capcom Spotlight and the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase have unveiled a wealth of exciting new details across various Capcom titles. Fans were treated to a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as fresh information on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and much more.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Bunch of New Details

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for release in 2026, and Capcom has shared some thrilling insights into what fans can anticipate from this eagerly awaited entry in the franchise. The development team is focusing on three key areas: crafting compelling characters, introducing a new protagonist, and designing engaging enemies. They aim to meticulously recreate the historical city of Kyoto, filled with real-life locations, to immerse players in its rich setting. Furthermore, the game promises to deliver the "ultimate sword fighting action," emphasizing the visceral thrill of combat.

Set in the Edo Period, Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature battles against evil creatures called Genma. The protagonist, equipped with an Oni Gauntlet, will face these foes and use the gauntlet to feed on their souls. While the game will offer a challenge, Capcom assures it won't be "impossibly difficult," aiming to be enjoyable for action fans of all skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Is Getting a Remastered Version in 2025

The 2002 classic, Onimusha: Samurai's Destiny, will receive a remastered version in 2025. This remaster aims to tide fans over until the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 to Feature Flagship Monster Arkveld

The second Open Beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds is approaching, and Capcom has outlined what players can expect that's new since the first beta. The highlight is the introduction of the flagship monster, Arkveld, in an advanced quest designed to challenge seasoned hunters. Players can also look forward to a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features such as Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies won't appear in searches, making them ideal for playing with friends, while Online Single Player mode allows solo play with the option to use an S.O.S. Flare for multiplayer assistance when needed.

Participants can transfer their data from the first Open Beta, and familiar features like Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt will return. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, with the second Open Beta, featuring Cross-Play, scheduled for:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT

Players can transfer their character data to the full game, though no game progression will carry over. Those who participate will receive a special Pendant as a reward.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies Just Waiting to Be Fought

The Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase introduced fans to a new story trailer set in the frozen Iceshard Cliffs. This icy region will be home to new enemies including the quirky Wudwud known as Rove, the Leviathan Hirabami, the Temnoceran Nerscylla, and the formidable Gore Magala.
