Choosing Your Faction: A Dynasty Warriors: Origins Guide

by Joseph May 14,2025

In the world of *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll find yourself wielding your weapon and carving a path through ancient China, aligning with various warlords. But as you delve deeper into the game, a crucial decision awaits: which faction will you pledge your allegiance to? Here's a detailed guide on selecting factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters, with the initial two chapters allowing your character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. During this period, you'll interact with Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei's factions, participating in pivotal events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, upon reaching Chapter 3, the game prompts you to make a crucial decision by the end of the chapter. By this stage, you should have a good sense of which faction resonates with you, but the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed choice.

To progress, you must complete a specific number of missions for each faction. Aligning with Sun Jian requires completing three battles, Liu Bei needs two, while Cao Cao asks for just one. Once you fulfill the mission requirements for a faction, a new mission becomes available, compelling you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll face a decision between him and Liu Bei, with the option to choose Liu Bei blocked if his missions are incomplete. You can always revisit and complete missions for all factions before finalizing your choice.

Once you commit to a faction, the other factions become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll no longer be able to engage in sidequests with their officers, nor will your bonds with them grow. Choosing a faction can impact the game's difficulty; for example, siding with Liu Bei might limit your opportunities to earn skill points due to fewer commanding officers.

Each faction also offers unique missions, so if you're eager to explore all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider saving your game before making your final decision. This way, you can reload and experience the different paths with other leaders.

That's the essence of selecting a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to embark on your epic journey through ancient China.
