Climb Knight is getting a major new update later this month, including extra minigames
If there's one thing you can say about mobile developer AppSir, it's that their games are always worth exploring. Whether it's our glowing review of Spooky Pixel Hero or their other intriguing releases, AppSir consistently delivers distinctive indie fun. Their latest release, Climb Knight, is no exception!
You might be thinking, "Didn't you already cover Climb Knight?" Yes, we did, and we gave it a positive review. Interestingly, the team at AppSir was pleasantly surprised by the reception Climb Knight received. In celebration, they've announced a major update set to launch on February 25th, and it's completely free!
So, what's in store? You can expect three new one-bit minigames and the introduction of a mysterious advisor character inspired by Apple Newton shareware. Given AppSir's history of spooky releases, I suspect there's more to this advisor and the new gameplay than meets the eye.
Climbing up
AppSir proves that a dedicated indie developer can break the mold and find success on mobile platforms. While I wouldn't label them as the "New Blood" of smartphones, they share similarities with the excellent Faith trilogy, particularly in the spooky, retro aesthetic of their back catalog.
You can check out our thoughts on Spooky Pixel Hero (spoiler alert: it's another excellent release well worth your time). For more insights from developer Darius on the reception to Climb Knight, take a look at his latest blog post.
