Code Geass: Lost Stories Concludes Its Global Mobile Adventure
The mobile strategy tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is ceasing global operations, marking a relatively short lifespan for the title. While the Japanese version will continue, the international servers will shut down on August 29th, 2024. This means players will lose access to their accounts after that date, and official social media channels will also be deactivated. In-app purchases and new downloads are already unavailable.
Developed by f4samurai and DMM Games, published by Komoe, and based on the popular Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion franchise, the game launched globally in September 2023, falling short of its first anniversary.
The reasons for the game's closure remain unstated by the developers, but low download numbers and generally unfavorable global reviews are likely contributing factors. Many licensed anime gacha games struggle to maintain substantial player bases outside Japan, where player spending tends to be higher. This likely contributed to the decision to end global service.
Japanese players can still access the game via the Google Play Store. The closure of the global version highlights the challenges faced by many mobile games in achieving sustained international success.
