Control 2 Ready for Production, Expanding The Alan Wake Universe
Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Progress on Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared updates on its game development pipeline, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor. These updates, revealed in the company's financial report, offer insights into each project's progress and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
Control 2, the highly anticipated sequel, has reached the "production readiness stage." This signifies the game is playable, and the team is now focusing on scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Active Development
Codename Condor, the Control universe multiplayer spin-off, is in full production. The development team is actively creating multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine the game's features. This marks Remedy's first venture into live-service games, and it will be released using a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remake Updates
Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion has received positive critical and fan reception. The game itself has already recouped a significant portion of its development and marketing costs, indicating strong performance. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from the production readiness phase to full production. The team is currently working on a fully playable version, focusing on unique gameplay features to differentiate the remake.
Future Focus on Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy's future strategy emphasizes the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Following the acquisition of full rights to the Control franchise, Remedy is exploring self-publishing and other business models, with further announcements expected by year's end. The company is considering self-publishing and potential partnerships to optimize long-term business prospects.
Remedy stated that growing these interconnected franchises within the Remedy Connected Universe is a key priority, alongside their continued work on the Max Payne franchise. Further announcements regarding these franchises and upcoming game developments are anticipated throughout the year.
