Crafting Artian Weapons

First, you'll need to unlock this crafting feature. This requires completing the main story, reaching High Rank, and then defeating your first Tempered monster. We won't spoil which monster it is; you'll know it when you see it—the NPCs will make it very clear!

After defeating this formidable beast, Gemma will initiate a conversation about Artian weapons, triggering a tutorial. You'll learn from Gemma that she can now craft them. Each weapon type uses three components; you'll need at least one of each to craft a weapon. But it's more complex than that.

Components have rarity, element type, and an Artian bonus. Only components of the same rarity can be combined. The weapon's elemental effect is determined by the most prevalent element among your components. For example, two water and one lightning component result in a water weapon. Three water components create a stronger water infusion. However, using three different elements yields no elemental infusion.

The Artian bonus enhances either attack or affinity. Attack increases raw damage, while affinity boosts your critical hit chance. The choice is yours, depending on your preferred playstyle.

How to Obtain Artian Materials in Monster Hunter: World

Artian Materials

Acquiring Artian materials is straightforward: hunt Tempered monsters in High Rank. Usually, one or two roam each area after defeating your first Tempered monster. In-game notifications will alert you to their presence, and they're easily identifiable on the map by their blue outline.

Defeating or capturing a Tempered monster yields several Artian parts. Simply farm these monsters to obtain the materials you need. You'll find these parts after the main mission rewards, among the decorations you earn. The rarity of these materials increases with your hunter rank, providing natural progression. While there's no direct correlation between the hunted monster and the type of Artian parts dropped, hunt monsters you enjoy fighting or need parts from for other weapons or armor.
