In the main quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, Hans requires your assistance once again, this time at Trosky Castle. A crucial part of this quest involves using alchemy to create a Fever Tonic to help save someone. Here's a detailed guide on how to make the Fever Tonic.

The recipe for the Fever Tonic is located in the Surgeon’s Workshop at Trosky Castle. You have two options to gain access to this workshop. The first option is to sneak into the workshop discreetly. The second involves using persuasive dialogue to convince the chamberlain that you will make him a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach issues, which will grant you access to the workshop.

If you prefer not to sneak, proceed with the objectives of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by delivering the horseshoe. After completing this task, return to the forge and speak with Cook Fanka. Offer to help her with her locked chest, and she will lead you to the noble’s kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen, you'll notice the chamberlain suffering from stomach pain. Engage in conversation with him, focus on his health, and successfully pass the skill checks to convince him of your help. This will allow you access to the Surgeon’s Workshop. Additionally, if you craft or already have a digestive potion alongside the fever tonic and bring it back to the chamberlain, he'll allow you to meet Thomas.

Should you fail the skill checks, you'll need to steal some food, exit the kitchen, and head to the opposite side of the courtyard. Ascend the stairs to the right where you'll find another door leading to a kitchen you're allowed to use, though it's guarded. Offer the stolen food to the guard to make him leave, then sneak upstairs to the Surgeon’s Workshop. Inside, find the surgeon's journal on a bookshelf, read it, and use the station to brew your potions.

The herbs required for the Fever Tonic are conveniently set up at the surgeon’s station. Open your book to the page on Fever Tonicum and follow these steps:

  • Pour wine into the cauldron.
  • Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
  • Lower the cauldron and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
  • Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves with the mortar and pestle.
  • Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
  • Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
  • Retrieve a phial from the bottom left shelf of the station, beneath the wine.
  • Distill the tonic using the Still.

Don't worry if you don't succeed on your first attempt; there are ample herbs available, with more stored in the chest in the room. Given your previous experience with potion-making, crafting the Fever Tonic should not pose a significant challenge.

Once you have the Fever Tonic, your next step is to reach Thomas. If you've earned the chamberlain's trust by providing him with a digestive potion, return to him with both potions. If not, use the noble’s kitchen to sneak up to the chapel where you'll find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Converse with Adele to successfully complete the quest.
