Crimson Desert Snubs PS5 Deal, Embracing Inclusivity
Pearl Abyss, the developer behind the anticipated action-adventure game Crimson Desert, has reportedly declined a Sony offer to make the game a PlayStation exclusive.
Pearl Abyss Prioritizes Independence Over PS5 Exclusivity
Crimson Desert Release Date and Platforms Still Unconfirmed
Pearl Abyss remains committed to its self-publishing strategy for Crimson Desert. In a statement to Eurogamer, the developer reiterated its previously announced independent publishing plans, noting ongoing discussions and collaborations with various partners.
A public demonstration of Crimson Desert is planned for November. Pearl Abyss clarified that no release date has been set, and any articles suggesting otherwise are purely speculative. A playable build will be shown to media this week in Paris, followed by a public showing at G-Star in November.
September investor meetings revealed Sony's attempt to secure PS5 exclusivity, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss opted for self-publishing, believing it would yield significantly higher profits.
The final platform lineup and release date for Crimson Desert remain unconfirmed. However, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox release is anticipated around Q2 2025.
