Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator

Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Best of all, it's free for Crunchyroll subscribers!

The Kardboard Kings Experience:

Players step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop. His father, a renowned card collector and Warlock champion, leaves Harry to navigate the exciting world of card buying, selling, and trading. Harry's unlikely business partner? Giuseppe, a quick-witted cockatoo with an uncanny ability to spot a great deal.

Set in a charming seaside location, Harry must satisfy customers while juggling the demands of running a successful card shop. For those feeling less scrupulous, there's always the option of a little friendly (or not-so-friendly) price gouging.

The game boasts charming characters, witty dialogue, and nods to other card games and anime. Over 100 unique card designs with quirky illustrations, including shiny variants, add to the visual appeal.

Gameplay Details:

The core gameplay loop is simple: buy low, sell high, and profit. However, as the game progresses, card conditions and set rarities fluctuate, adding layers of complexity. Factors such as foil finish and card popularity significantly impact value.

Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where players face challenging duelists. Additional gameplay options include hosting tournaments, throwing booster pack parties, and staging clearance sales.
