Dating in Fields of Mistria: Is It Possible?

NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered significant praise for its well-crafted marriage candidates, engaging dialogue, and thoughtfully designed romance questlines. Many players are eager to know if they can date the romance options currently available in the game.

Can You Date Romance Options in Fields of Mistria?

While the short answer is no – you can't technically date in *Fields of Mistria* yet, the game's existing romance system is still incredibly rewarding and well worth the $13.99 price tag on Steam. As someone who has invested over 100 hours trying to win March's affection, I can attest to the depth and quality of the current system.

With the first major update in November 2024, *Fields of Mistria* increased the heart cap from four to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with playable cutscenes that enhance the narrative. NPC Studio has plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, though no specific dates or details have been shared beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which won't include a higher heart level cap or new heart events.

While the inability to date might disappoint new players eager to explore more romantic quests in Mistria, the current state of romance in *Fields of Mistria* is exceptional. The game's dialogue is rich and realistic, with flirty undertones that enhance the romantic experience. The heart events, while potentially interpretable as platonic, are crafted with enough ambiguity to allow for romantic readings, especially in their settings. This nuanced approach makes the romantic progression in *Fields of Mistria* deeply satisfying, even without official dates.

New players shouldn't be deterred by the lack of dating options. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event where you can initiate a date-like experience with eligible NPCs once you reach four hearts. This event allows you to spend an evening watching the stars with your chosen romance option. Currently, you can enjoy this with Caldarus, though it doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location as it does with other characters. This might change with the March 2025 update, which is expected to unlock Caldarus's romance questline.

While you can't officially date NPCs in *Fields of Mistria* just yet, the game offers plenty of engaging content to keep players invested until this feature is fully implemented.
