Dawnwalker Director Departs CDPR, Launches Own Studio
After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED veterans, including the team behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose to pursue independent ventures.
Recently unveiled, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key reasons:
The desire to explore new creative avenues with trusted friends led to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG mechanics. They developed some unconventional ideas, recognizing that implementing these novel concepts within a large corporation would be challenging, particularly with new intellectual property. Therefore, establishing their own studio became necessary to pursue their ambitious vision. This approach, while risky due to the innovative nature of their work, allows for greater creative freedom.
Unlike larger studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes close collaboration and strong interpersonal relationships. Tomaszkiewicz believes that a smaller team fosters better communication and simplifies the process of sharing and refining a creative vision. This intimate environment facilitates a stronger sense of creative energy and allows for the development of truly unique experiences.
