The Blade Phantom emerges as a haunting figure on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level in Stormpass. This spectral adversary challenges your ability to manage stamina and aggression amidst its relentless onslaught. As the battle commences within a castle awash with crimson liquid, you'll encounter various attacks from the Blade Phantom:
- A six-hit combo featuring four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed for added difficulty.
- A three-hit combo of two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit sequence starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and culminating in a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches that precedes a grab, necessitating a timely dodge.
Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and spawning red spikes. Be prepared for a spear throw and a subsequent teleporting smash if it opts for the spear, or a swift six-hit combo if it wields a blade. It can also vanish to dash unpredictably around the arena before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can exploit openings to deplete the Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for Brutal Attacks. Continue this strategy until the boss's health is halved, triggering the transition to the second phase.
Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom opens with four claw attacks, swiftly followed by a spear throw from above. Evade the spear's impact zone and brace for a leaping swipe. This sequence continues with three greatsword slashes and concludes with a hammer smash.
While retaining many of its initial moves, the Phantom introduces new claw attacks and enhances its aggression with frequent teleportations. Be wary of the spear thrust and follow-up, as well as rapid dual-wielding attacks. When wielding the greatsword, anticipate multiple slashes and the final Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. To counter this, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry effectively, regaining stamina and exposing the boss to further damage.
Capitalize on the Phantom's depleted stamina to launch Brutal Attacks, ideally when the window for doing so is nearly closed. This maximizes your damage output, paving the way to victory. Upon defeating the Blade Phantom, you'll earn 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
