Diablo 3 Event Extension Denied Amidst Server Woes

Diablo III's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, slated to conclude on February 1st, has prompted player requests for an extension. However, community manager pezradar has confirmed this isn't feasible due to the event's hard-coded nature, precluding server-side adjustments.

This announcement follows another concerning delay: the postponement of Diablo IV Season 34. Pezradar apologized for the disruption, explaining that a 24-hour notice necessitated a schedule change. The delay stems from issues with the automatic season scheduler that prematurely ended Season 33 in early January. The team is developing new code for smoother seasonal transitions and improved player communication moving forward.

Separately, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st. Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of extraction shooter tension and RPG combat dynamics, drawing comparisons to Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The alpha aims to gather player feedback as players assume the role of a Death messenger, striving to restore order to a ravaged world.
