Digimon Challenges Pokémon TCG Pocket with New Card Game

by Lucy May 04,2025

In the wake of the phenomenal success of Pokémon TCG Pocket, Bandai Namco has announced a new contender in the mobile card game arena: Digimon Alysion. This free-to-play online card battler is set to launch on iOS and Android devices, bringing the beloved Digimon card game experience to a digital platform.

While details remain limited, a teaser trailer and additional information were unveiled at Digimon Con. Digimon Alysion promises to capture the essence of the Digimon card game, featuring Digivolution mechanics, pack openings, and charming pixel art representations of the iconic Digimon creatures.

During the announcement, fans were also introduced to several characters and Digimon that may play a role in an overarching story. This potential narrative element sets Digimon Alysion apart from the more gameplay-focused Pokémon TCG Pocket, hinting at a richer, story-driven experience.

As of now, no specific release date has been set for Digimon Alysion. However, Gematsu reported that a closed beta test is in the works, with further details to be announced later.

With the massive popularity of Pokémon TCG Pocket, Digimon Alysion offers an exciting alternative for fans eager for more Digimon card battling action. Meanwhile, on the Pokémon side, developers have acknowledged the need for changes to Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading system, though these updates may take some time to implement.

Digimon Alysion aims to expand the reach of its card game to a broader audience. As the rivalry between Pokémon and Digimon heats up once again, fans of monster-based card collecting will soon have more options to choose from. Stay tuned for more updates as Digimon Alysion progresses toward its eventual launch.
