DOOM Debuts on Apple Devices via HDMI Cable
The DOOM community's inventive spirit shines again! A recent feat saw NyanSatan successfully running the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This unusual platform choice was made possible by the adapter's iOS-based firmware and its processor, clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, utilizing a MacBook for firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
News on an upcoming DOOM iteration also surfaced. DOOM: The Dark Ages will prioritize accessibility, offering players extensive customization options. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlighted the studio's commitment to making the game approachable for a wider audience. Players will be able to adjust enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, enemy health, and other gameplay elements like aggression levels and parry timing.
Importantly, Stratton confirmed that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its storyline or that of DOOM: Eternal. This suggests a standalone narrative experience, welcoming both veterans and newcomers alike.
