A Decade in the Making

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and complex process, marked by significant delays spanning almost a decade. Initiated in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (initially codenamed "Joplin") faced setbacks due to BioWare's focus shifting to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Furthermore, the initial design's incompatibility with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.

The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison" and formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
