Dusk: A New Mobile Multiplayer App Aims to Disrupt the Market

Dusk, a newly funded mobile multiplayer app, is aiming to capitalize on the booming mobile gaming market. Created by entrepreneurs Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, Dusk offers a social platform for playing custom-made multiplayer games with friends. The app's quick and easy friend-pairing system is a key selling point.

Felbo and Guruprasad previously launched Rune, a companion app for PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile, which achieved five million installs. While Dusk differs significantly from Rune, this past success demonstrates their experience in the mobile gaming space.

Dusk acts as a game creation platform, hosting a variety of user-created games. The app facilitates in-game chat and seamless friend pairing, creating a streamlined social gaming experience similar to a miniaturized Xbox Live or Steam.

The Key Challenge: Game Selection

The primary challenge for Dusk lies in its reliance on its library of custom-made games. While titles like mini-golf and 3D racing show promise, the absence of established, big-name games could hinder its appeal.

However, Dusk boasts cross-platform compatibility across browsers, iOS, and Android – a significant advantage. With other social platforms like Discord integrating games, Dusk's simple, lightweight approach could find a niche. Only time will tell if it can succeed.
