EA to Shut Down The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Have you ever immersed yourself in the world of *The Simpsons: Tapped Out*, the beloved city-building mobile game developed by EA (Electronic Arts)? Launched on the Apple's App Store in 2012 and on Google Play in 2013, this game has been a staple for fans of the iconic TV series for a full twelve years. Unfortunately, EA has announced that it will be sunsetting this delightful title.
When Is It Shutting Down?
In a move signaling the beginning of the end, in-app purchases for *The Simpsons: Tapped Out* have already been disabled. As of October 31st, 2024, new downloads of the game will no longer be available. However, for those who wish to enjoy it until the very last moment, you can continue playing until the servers go offline on January 24th, 2025.
EA's announcement came with a warm thank you to the game’s dedicated players. The collaboration with The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company enabled fans to craft their own unique versions of Springfield over the course of over a decade.
You Still Have The Chance, Will You Play The Simpsons: Tapped Out?
If you haven't yet experienced *The Simpsons: Tapped Out* and want to dive in before it's too late, here's a quick overview. In the game, you take the reins of Springfield, tasked with rebuilding it after Homer's catastrophic meltdown obliterates the town.
From Homer’s chaotic reconstruction to the efforts of Marge, Lisa, and Bart to restore order, you have the freedom to design Springfield as you see fit. Engage with a diverse cast of characters, including the notorious Fat Tony, and outfit them in various costumes, like Daredevil Bart. You can even expand your town to Springfield Heights and manage the Kwik-E-Mart like Apu.
*The Simpsons: Tapped Out* operates on a freemium model. It regularly introduced updates that mirrored episodes of the show and celebrated real-life holidays. While the game is free to download, the premium currency, donuts, drives much of the excitement.
If you're eager to give it a try before it's gone forever, you can still grab it from the Google Play Store. And don't forget to check out our coverage of *eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit*, another exciting mobile game set to launch this fall!
