EA Sports FC 25 Gameplay Revamped with Major Update

Electronic Arts' soccer simulation games often face scrutiny. Beyond monetization issues, their technical performance frequently sparks debate.

In response to widespread feedback on EA Sports FC 25, developers have rolled out a “Gameplay Refresh Update” featuring over 50 enhancements to core mechanics, including:

  • Refined core gameplay systems, such as assists, shooting, goalkeeper performance, and defensive strategies.
  • Fixed frequent scenarios where defenders unrealistically overtook ball carriers.
  • Smoother attacking play, enabling easier ball movement.
  • Reduced instances of AI-driven reverse tackles and interceptions.
  • Lowered effectiveness of crossing passes.
  • Faster support from players in familiar roles.
  • Enhanced offside detection for AI-controlled attacking runs.
  • Improved accuracy for standard and precision shots taken under straightforward conditions outside the penalty area.

Only 36% of 474 player reviews at EA Sports FC 25’s launch were positive, with many citing persistent bugs, crashes, and issues with PlayStation controller recognition, alongside criticism of Electronic Arts’ perceived profit-driven approach.

Additionally, the game’s anti-cheat system renders it incompatible with Steam Deck.
