Elden Ring Nightreign: Raider Class Hands-On - IGN First
If you're a fan of Elden Ring and enjoy the thrill of dominating battles with sheer strength and massive weapons, then you'll love the Raider class in Nightreign. This class is designed for players who relish the art of dealing devastating blows and crushing enemies with brute force.
Unlike the Guardian, another robust class in Nightreign that focuses on defense and comes equipped with a shield and party-wide damage mitigation abilities, the Raider is the epitome of offensive prowess. It's crafted for those who want to charge into battle and overpower their foes.
The cornerstone of the Raider's arsenal is the Retaliate ability. At first glance, it might seem underwhelming with its two stomps that inflict minor physical and poise damage. However, the true power lies in the Raider's passive, which grants immunity to knockback while using Retaliate. This means you can soak up damage from any enemy or boss attack without being knocked down. Moreover, if you manage to absorb a significant hit, the second stomp transforms into a formidable punch capable of staggering even the mightiest of foes.
The Raider's ultimate ability, Totem Stela, is equally impressive. By slamming the ground, the Raider summons a large totem that erupts and deals substantial damage to nearby enemies. This ultimate not only packs a punch but also offers strategic advantages: the totem is climbable, providing a safe haven or a tactical vantage point for you and your team. Additionally, it boosts the damage output of everyone nearby, making it a crucial ability to coordinate with your team for maximum impact.
The Raider starts with the Raider’s Greavtaxe, a solid weapon that deals fire damage and comes equipped with the "Endure" skill, allowing you to absorb and power through enemy attacks even when Retaliate is on cooldown. As you progress, seeking out larger strength-scaling weapons will enhance your Raider's effectiveness and align with your preferred playstyle.
Among all the classes in Nightreign, the Raider has been the most enjoyable for me. It excels in one-on-one combat, fitting perfectly with the class's unique Remembrances, which involve gladiatorial one-on-one boss fights. This adds a refreshing twist to the gameplay, making the Raider a standout choice for those who thrive in direct confrontations.
