Elden Ring Playtest Restrictions Revealed

Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test: Three-Hour Daily Limit

The upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign network test will impose a three-hour daily playtime restriction. This limited access test, running from February 14th to 17th, is exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 players. Applications are currently open.

Following the phenomenal success of Elden Ring in 2022, the announcement of Nightreign generated immense excitement. While FromSoftware initially stated no plans for a sequel or further DLC after the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Nightreign's surprise reveal at The Game Awards 2024 took the gaming world by storm.

The network test, as FromSoftware explains, serves as a crucial pre-launch evaluation of online systems, focusing on large-scale network load testing. This three-hour daily limit, while potentially disappointing to some, is essential for gathering valuable data. Participation requires visiting the official FromSoftware website; PC players are excluded from this test, but the final game will support the platform.

Nightreign represents a significant departure for FromSoftware, prioritizing co-op gameplay and incorporating roguelike elements such as randomized encounters. Although a release date remains unannounced, the network test strongly suggests a forthcoming official launch date announcement.
