Fan Remakes Fallout: New Vegas in The Sims 2

by Chloe Mar 29,2025

The modding community is renowned for its creativity, and this time, it's taking an intriguing detour. A passionate Fallout: New Vegas enthusiast, known as FalloutPropMaster, grew tired of waiting for an official remaster and decided to take matters into his own hands—within The Sims 2! Rather than a conventional RPG, he's transforming New Vegas into a comprehensive life simulation, giving the Mojave wasteland a fresh, unexpected twist.

The inspiration struck after FalloutPropMaster discovered some remarkably detailed casino recreations from New Vegas in The Sims 2. This ignited an ambitious project—not just to rebuild iconic locations like Goodsprings and The Strip, but to weave in The Sims-style gameplay, featuring need meters and AI-driven character interactions. The outcome? A shift from a traditional RPG to a post-apocalyptic "colony sim" where survival hinges on managing daily life in the wasteland.

Although FalloutPropMaster has a background in modding Fallout 3 and New Vegas, The Sims 2 presents a new challenge. He's employing tools such as FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope to meticulously import assets from New Vegas into the life sim environment.

Despite being nearly two decades old, The Sims 2 is enjoying a revival, thanks to its recent re-release with updated OS compatibility, making such innovative projects more feasible. The burning question now is: Can Fallout: New Vegas truly flourish as a life simulation? The fanbase is eagerly awaiting the answer.
