  • Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 will introduce an exchange system for Clouddark Demimateria, responding to player feedback.
  • Players can convert Clouddark Demimateria 1 into Clouddark Demimateria 2, facilitating the acquisition of high-demand items like the Dais of Darkness mount and the A Half Times Two hairstyle.
  • Additional adjustments may be forthcoming based on ongoing player feedback, potentially influencing future raid content updates.

Final Fantasy 14 has announced significant changes to the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid in the upcoming Patch 7.16, set to release on January 21, 2025. This update, driven by player feedback, will allow players to exchange their excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, introduced on December 24, 2024, following the release of Patch 7.15, challenges up to 24 players to battle the iconic final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness. This raid also incorporates mechanics from the Eden raid series in Shadowbringers, adding complexity and excitement to the encounter. Successful clears of this raid reward players with Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional Clouddark Demimateria 2 awarded for first-time clears.

In response to player feedback, Square Enix has confirmed that Patch 7.16 will enable players to convert their Clouddark Demimateria 1 into Clouddark Demimateria 2. While the specific exchange rate remains undisclosed, this change will make it easier for players to obtain the A Half Times Two hairstyle, which requires 49 Clouddark Demimateria 2, and the Dais of Darkness mount, which requires 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2. Both items can be traded on the market board, suggesting that their market prices may fluctuate post-patch.

Square Enix has indicated that these modifications to the Clouddark Demimateria system are a direct result of community input, and they remain open to further adjustments in future updates. Patch 7.16 marks the first content update for Final Fantasy 14 in 2025, featuring the conclusion of the Dawntrail Role Quest series.

While significant job balance updates are not expected in Patch 7.16, players can look forward to such changes in the subsequent Patch 7.2. As more raid content is scheduled throughout 2025, it will be interesting to see how ongoing player feedback continues to shape the game's development.
