Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director
Naoki Hamaguchi, game director, assures fans that development on the next installment is progressing well, though he requests patience for further updates. 2024 proved a successful year for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, garnering numerous awards and widespread player acclaim. Building on this success, the team aims to expand the Final Fantasy VII fanbase with unique challenges in the upcoming third game.
Hamaguchi also noted his admiration for Grand Theft Auto VI and expressed support for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following the phenomenal success of GTA V.
Specific details regarding the third game remain undisclosed, but Hamaguchi confirmed smooth development progress. This is noteworthy considering the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago. He emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.
While Final Fantasy XVI, released in May 2024, initially saw strong sales, they ultimately slowed and fell short of projected targets. Precise sales figures for both Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth remain unannounced, though Square Enix clarified that Rebirth's sales aren't considered a failure, and XVI still has potential to meet its goals within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
