ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's Impressive Debut: 3 Million Downloads in Three Weeks

ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, the free-to-play mobile title launched December 18th, 2024, has achieved a remarkable milestone: exceeding three million downloads within its first three weeks. This spin-off of the popular ARK: Survival Evolved franchise, developed by Grove Street Games, is available on iOS and Android.

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon release, the game's performance mirrors the success of its predecessor, ARK: Survival Evolved, which similarly saw strong sales even before its official launch. The game's popularity is undeniable, leading to the 2023 remaster, ARK: Survival Ascended. This latest mobile iteration offers players a familiar experience, allowing them to gather resources, craft weapons, build bases, and tame dinosaurs.

On January 10th, 2025, publisher Snail Games announced the impressive download figures, highlighting a significant increase compared to the 2018 mobile port of ARK: Survival Evolved. Grove Street Games is actively developing new content, including maps like Ragnarok, Extinction, and both Genesis parts, to further expand the game's world.

Continued Growth and Future Plans

ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's success isn't limited to download numbers. It's steadily climbing popularity charts, currently holding a respectable position among adventure games on both iOS and Android app stores. While user reviews are mixed (3.9/5 on the App Store and 3.6/5 on the Google Play Store), this launch represents another successful venture for Grove Street Games, following their work on the Nintendo Switch port of ARK: Survival Evolved in 2022.

The game's reach will expand further with its planned release on the Epic Games Store in 2025. Meanwhile, Studio Wildcard has recently unveiled a roadmap for ARK: Survival Ascended, leaving fans anticipating updates and, hopefully, news on the long-awaited ARK 2, which missed its projected 2024 release date.
