A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

MercurySteam, renowned for titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has announced their latest creation: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG. Partnering with 505 Games, this dark fantasy adventure plunges players into a world teeming with enigmatic races and formidable creatures.

The debut trailer showcases exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual aesthetic, and a brooding, atmospheric backdrop. Gameplay and art style echo elements of Lords of Shadow, while environmental and enemy designs draw clear inspiration from Darksiders. A notable feature is a mechanical bird, seemingly integral to the protagonist's traversal of the game world.

Leveraging MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to circumvent the optimization challenges frequently encountered in Unreal Engine 5 projects.

Blades of Fire is slated for release on May 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
