GAMM: A Historical Haven for Gaming Enthusiasts

Rome's newest attraction: GAMM, the Game Museum! Now open to the public in Piazza della Repubblica, this expansive museum is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards' passion for preserving video game history is evident in GAMM, which he describes as a journey blending history, technology, and interactive gameplay. Building on the success of Vigamus, a Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012, GAMM offers a significantly larger and more immersive experience.

Spread across 700 square meters on two floors, the museum is divided into three distinct sections:

Explore GAMM's Thrilling Exhibits:

  • GAMMDOME: A dynamic digital playground featuring interactive exhibits alongside genuine gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated items. The experience adheres to the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): Step back in time to the golden age of arcade games! Relive the classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a dash of early '90s nostalgia.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): Delve into the mechanics of game design. This section offers an in-depth look at game structure, interaction, and design principles—a behind-the-scenes exploration of gaming history.

Visit GAMM:

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets cost 15 euros. For more information, visit the official GAMM website.
