Google Play to Auto-Launch Apps Without User Input

Ever downloaded an app and promptly forgotten about it? Google Play Store might have the answer. A new feature, reportedly in development, will automatically launch newly installed apps.

The Details

Android Authority reports that the Play Store is testing "App Auto Open," a feature designed to streamline the app installation process. This optional setting will automatically open an app immediately after download completion. No more hunting for icons or wondering about download status – the app will launch directly onto your screen.

Currently, this is based on an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, so an official announcement and release date are pending. However, the feature's optional nature ensures user control over its activation.

The user experience is straightforward: upon successful download, a notification banner (with potential vibration or sound alerts) will appear for approximately five seconds, ensuring visibility even during other activities.

While this information remains unofficial, we'll provide updates as soon as Google releases further details. In the meantime, check out our other recent tech news, such as the Android release of Hyper Light Drifter Special Edition.
