We've just been given our first glimpse at DC Studios’ latest venture, the highly anticipated "Lanterns" TV series, set to feature not one but two Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler, and John Stewart, brought to life by Aaron Pierre. While the iconic emerald green suits are yet to be unveiled, eagle-eyed fans can spot a Power Ring adorning Chandler's hand, signaling the authentic Green Lantern experience to come.

"Lanterns" promises to be a thrilling detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like True Detective and Slow Horses. The show follows Chandler's seasoned Hal Jordan and Pierre's John Stewart as they delve into a murder investigation that spirals into a deeper, darker mystery. This series is set to be a key component of James Gunn's expansive DC universe, which also encompasses projects like Creature Commandos, and the forthcoming Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow films.

The creative team behind "Lanterns" boasts notable talents such as Damon Lindelof, renowned for his work on Lost, alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King. They aim to craft a narrative with a darker, more grounded tone. James Gunn has described the series as "very grounded, very believable, very real," promising a fresh and compelling take on the Green Lantern mythos.

Kyle Chandler, celebrated for his role in the drama Friday Night Lights, steps into the shoes of an older Hal Jordan. Meanwhile, Aaron Pierre, known for his performance in Rebel Ridge, brings John Stewart to the screen. "Lanterns" is slated for a 2026 premiere, coinciding with the release of the Supergirl movie, setting the stage for an exciting year for DC fans.
