Hara-Kiri Fatalities Animations Found in Mortal Kombat 1, Might Return as Quitalities
A keen Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, InfiniteNightZ, has stirred excitement within the gaming community by uncovering what appears to be evidence of Hara-Kiri Fatalities returning to the franchise. These gruesome self-inflicted finishers, first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, could be making a comeback in the form of Quitalities in Mortal Kombat 1.
InfiniteNightZ shared a video on Reddit showcasing Hara-Kiri animations for characters like Ghostface, a recently added DLC fighter. This discovery suggests that NetherRealm Studios might be planning to integrate these animations into the game through a future update. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented, expressing optimism about the feature's inclusion.
The dataminer also pointed out that these animations are referred to as Quitalities within the game's code. Quitalities are swift finishers that occur when a player quits a multiplayer match, a feature seen in previous Mortal Kombat titles. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ noted, fueling speculation among fans.
Following InfiniteNightZ's revelations, another prominent dataminer, Interloko, confirmed the existence of additional Hara-Kiri animations. Interloko shared on Twitter that only Omniman and Conan are missing these animations, adding further credibility to the findings. "Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tagging me. Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one," Interloko tweeted, although he did not attempt to trigger these animations in-game due to his involvement in other projects.
While this news has sparked enthusiasm among Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts, it's important to approach it with caution. Neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially announced the inclusion of Quitalities in Mortal Kombat 1.
In other Mortal Kombat 1 news, the game has seen a surge in popularity with the introduction of a hidden battle against Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community's efforts to decipher how to unlock this character. Fans also have the much-anticipated T-1000 guest character to look forward to, alongside potential future DLC, though nothing has been confirmed by NetherRealm yet.
