Hideaki Nishino Elevated to Sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hiroki Totoki Promoted to Sony CEO
Hideaki Nishino will become the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement, made via press release, also reveals promotions for Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki to president and CEO of the entire company, replacing Kenichiro Yoshida (who succeeded Kazuo Hirai in April 2018), and Lin Tao to CFO.
Last year, SIE leadership was split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst following Jim Ryan's retirement. Hulst led PlayStation Studios, while Nishino oversaw hardware and technology. This restructuring unites SIE leadership under Nishino, who now leads the entire operation and the platform business group. Hulst remains CEO of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, a Sony employee since 2000, previously served as SVP of the platform experience group. In his statement, he expressed his honor at assuming the CEO role, highlighting technology and creativity as key strengths in SIE's continued focus on delivering entertainment experiences. He emphasized plans for PlayStation community growth through IP expansion and technological innovation, thanking Hermen Hulst for his contributions and expressing gratitude to the PlayStation community.
