Becoming a Hollow in the Hollow Era

Your journey begins as a Soul Spirit, a deceased entity with a crucial decision to make: become a Shinigami or a Hollow. Opting for the latter involves breaking all the links on your chain, a process that will naturally occur every two minutes, transforming you into a Hollow even if you do nothing.

Warning: Embarking on your Hollow Era journey as a Hollow can be less engaging than playing as a Shinigami. While Hollows have a cool factor, the path to becoming a Vasto Lorde or Espada involves extensive grinding and repetitive tasks.

Hollow Progression in the Hollow Era

Your next goal is to evolve into a Gillian, which requires grinding by defeating and consuming other Hollows. You can achieve this at level 15, but at level 10, you gain access to the Hueco Mundo dimension through a Garganta gateway, making it easier to find and consume Hollows.

As a Hollow, you'll face attacks from both Shinigami and other Hollows, unlike the Shinigami who are only targeted by Hollows. For a detailed Shinigami progression, check out our full guide.

Gillian Form in the Hollow Era

As a Gillian, your primary task is to continue eliminating Hollows and interact with Hollow Pillars in Hueco Mundo. Accumulating enough Progression Points will teleport you to your inner world, where you must defeat five tougher Hollows three times to evolve into an Adjucha.

As an Adjucha, you face a pivotal choice: progress towards becoming a Vasto Lorde or an Arrancar.

Arrancar Progression

To become an Arrancar, interact with a Crystal Bush in Hueco Mundo, which appears every 30 to 60 minutes. Upon contact, you'll transform into an Arrancar, gaining access to Hueco Mundo via a keybind. At level 50, you can pursue your Resurrección, but for now, you're limited to Kendo skills.

Vasto Lorde Progression

To evolve into a Vasto Lorde, continue eliminating and devouring Hollows to earn Progression Points. Be cautious, as dying will cost you 1% of your points. You'll need 800 Progression Points to become a Vasto Lorde, with points awarded as follows:

Hollow: 1 Point Gillian: 6 Points Adjucha: 4 Points Vasto Lorde: 8 Points Arrancar: 8 Points Espada: 10 Points

Vasto Lorde form in the Hollow Era

Achieving Vasto Lorde status is more challenging than becoming an Arrancar. You must gather 800 Progression Points and collect all Hollow Items, which have random drop rates. Here's a list of Hollow Items by the creatures that drop them:

Becoming Espada in the Hollow Era

If you choose the Vasto Lorde path, your next step is to evolve into an Espada. The process is similar to becoming an Arrancar: locate a Crystal Bush in Hueco Mundo and interact with it.

To spot the Crystal Bush more easily, disable Atmosphere, Bloom, and Depth of Field in your settings, then scan the area from a high vantage point.

How to Get Your Resurrección

As an Arrancar or Espada, your ultimate goal is to obtain your Resurrección. Reach level 50, then visit Hueco Mundo and speak with Isen, the King of Hueco Mundo.

Isen will task you with defeating 50 Arrancars. Upon completion, you can activate your Resurrección when your Rage Bar is full and pulsating. Fill your Rage Bar by dealing or receiving damage. The default keybind for Resurrección is "Y", and it deactivates when you run out of Reiatsu or Rage.

Hollow Strength Node boosts your damage with fists and strength moves.

Claw Slash: Slashes front targets with claws. Rock Throw: Throws debris in the direction of the pointer. Hollow Slam: Sends a shockwave in a straight line by slamming the ground. Hollow Reiatsu Node increases maximum Reiatsu and the damage dealt with Hollow powers.

This can be a lifesaver in a buggy, laggy game, especially when stuck in a situation where you can't move but aren't taking damage.

Learn how to block enemy attacks quickly, as even low-level enemies can deal significant damage, and your vitality bar doesn't refill fast enough. Upon death, you'll lose some money, and the trek back to your quest targets can be tedious. Consider investing in the bus teleport if you can afford it; it's a worthwhile investment.

When collecting Skill Points, invest in Strength and Speed first, regardless of your race. While Sword, Vitality, and Reiatsu are tempting, prioritize main damage output and swift movement. If you're unsure, press and hold J (default keybind) to reveal all markers around Karakura with your Reiatsu sense.
