Hollow Knight: Silksong at Australian Museum in 2025
IGN can exclusively reveal that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for hands-on gameplay at an Australian museum starting September 2025.
Team Cherry's long-awaited title remains one of the most anticipated games globally, consistently ranking at the top of Steam's wishlist charts for years. The Adelaide-based studio has maintained a vague 2025 release window for Silksong, but we now confirm it will be playable at Australia's national screen culture museum, ACMI, from September 18th.
The Melbourne museum will feature Silksong as part of its Game Worlds exhibition, complemented by displays exploring the game's design philosophy and artistic vision.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell stated: "Since its initial announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has captured global attention as one of the most awaited indie titles. We're honored to showcase this South Australian creation as a centerpiece of September's Game Worlds exhibition.
Our exhibition delves into the game's intricate details - from the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and combat techniques, to the strategic design behind challenging boss encounters. Having the game playable within the gallery allows visitors to experience these elements firsthand. We extend our gratitude to Team Cherry for entrusting us with their masterpiece and can't wait to share it with visitors."
Alongside the announcement, ACMI shared an exclusive Silksong sprite sheet - one of several design elements that will be featured in the Game Worlds exhibition. This image was provided to IGN with official permission.

Naturally, Hollow Knight enthusiasts are speculating about implications for Silksong's actual launch date. The museum accessibility from September 18th suggests a potential pre-release demonstration, possibly indicating an August launch window.
The Hollow Knight universe continues gaining momentum. Silksong recently appeared briefly during Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct presentation, followed by Team Cherry solidifying the 2025 release window.
The hardware-focused showcase included fleeting new gameplay footage alongside confirmation of updated launch plans - representing the most substantial Silksong update in recent years.
Initially announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, with subsequent confirmations for Xbox (including Game Pass) and PlayStation 4/5 platforms, Silksong has been subject to numerous unconventional teases. Team Cherry began 2025 with a cryptic chocolate cake recipe reference, fueling fan theories about a potential April re-reveal.
