Hungry Horrors: Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Version Soon
Get ready for a deliciously unique gaming experience with Hungry Horrors, the upcoming roguelite deckbuilder from Clumsy Bear Studio, a UK-based game developer. In a refreshing twist, rather than battling monsters, you'll be cooking for them to satisfy their insatiable appetites. The first playable demo of Hungry Horrors is now available on Steam, and it's already making waves in the gaming community.
Following its PC launch, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. While no official release date has been announced, eager fans can dive into the demo on Steam, Itch, or GOG. The developers have been actively engaging with the community, showcasing the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.
The Steam demo offers a substantial glimpse into what Hungry Horrors has in store. It features two handcrafted biomes, six unique monsters to serve, two challenging boss fights, and four NPCs to interact with. Players can also explore non-combat zones such as the Nook and the Trove, where they can regroup and refine their culinary strategies.
More About Hungry Horrors
In Hungry Horrors, you take on the role of a princess tasked with preparing traditional British and Irish dishes to appease folklore creatures and prevent them from turning you into their next meal. The game cleverly integrates deckbuilding with culinary arts, resulting in a delightfully quirky experience.
Featuring a retro pixel art style and gothic atmosphere, Hungry Horrors stands out with its humorous take on cooking for legendary monsters. From Bara Brith to Cranachan, you'll need to master the art of matching dishes to each monster's unique tastes. Encounter creatures like Jenny Greenteeth, the blood-thirsty swamp witch, and Black Annis, the child-snatching hag with iron claws. Fail to satisfy their cravings, and you might just end up on their menu!
The game challenges you to decipher each monster's preferences, catering to the likes of Grendel and Redcap, each with their peculiar cravings. Some may crave sweet treats while others might recoil at the mere sight of fish.
The deckbuilding aspect adds another layer of strategy, where you combine ingredients and utilize utensils, spices, and herbs to enhance your dishes. Balancing flavors and planning your culinary creations is crucial to success. As you progress, you'll unlock a variety of new recipes and ingredients, along with legendary artifacts and rescued familiars.
