New Illustrated Game of Thrones Edition in November; Winds of Winter Awaits
George R.R. Martin delighted fans this week with an exciting update on his blog, although it wasn't the long-awaited news about *The Winds of Winter*. Instead, he unveiled the cover for the next illustrated edition of his epic series, *A Song of Ice and Fire*: *A Feast for Crows*. This marks the fourth book in the series to receive this special treatment, featuring stunning artwork by Jeffrey R. McDonald.
*A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition* is scheduled for release on November 4, 2025. You can secure your copy by preordering it from major retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target, as well as other top online bookstores.

A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition
This announcement is fantastic news for collectors of the illustrated editions. The last such edition, *A Storm of Swords*, was released back in November 2020, making it a five-year wait for this new addition.
In addition to the beautiful illustrations, the new edition of *A Feast for Crows* will include a foreword by acclaimed author Joe Abercrombie. Martin's blog also mentioned that some interior illustrations will be shared later this spring, ahead of the book's release. For those new to the series or looking to start collecting, the first three illustrated entries of *A Song of Ice and Fire* are already available.

What About The Winds of Winter?
-------------------------------For fans eagerly awaiting *The Winds of Winter*, the wait continues. The last update from Martin came in an interview in December 2024, where he expressed concerns that he might not complete the book in his lifetime. This followed his November 2023 update, where he mentioned having already written 1,100 pages of the manuscript.
While the absence of a release date for *The Winds of Winter* is disappointing after almost 14 years of anticipation, there remains hope that the series might be completed by someone else. With the fourth illustrated edition now on the horizon, it seems likely that the first five special editions will be finished before *The Winds of Winter* sees the light of day.
