by Allison May 19,2025

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest "Bad Blood" offers a rich narrative that deepens your understanding of the game's characters. Here's a detailed guide on how to start and complete this quest.

How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To initiate the Bad Blood quest, you'll need to progress through the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. During this quest, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena's hut. Here, Henry will suggest checking if Bozhena has seen Mutt. Approach Bozhena's hut and inquire about Mutt. She'll inform you that her daughter Pavlena is missing, prompting you to help her, which will add the Bad Blood quest to your journal.

Gather Information

Begin by traveling to Troskowitz and speaking with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the tavern. These interactions will shed light on Bozhena and Pavlena's past, revealing why they were ostracized from the village. Next, head to the designated area to talk to the woodcutters. Find Woodcutter Dushko and follow his lead to Roman's house. Be prepared to lockpick the door, so save your game beforehand. Inside, inspect Pavlena's basket and then speak with Dushko again for further directions to a clearing near Roman's house, a favorite spot of the couple.

Search the Scene

From Roman's house, follow the objective marker downhill towards the stream. Make a left at the two large boulders to find a blood trail leading to Roman's deceased body. Continue uphill to meet Hogherd Hugo, then return to Troskowitz to interrogate Hired Hand Straw. Successfully passing a dialogue check with Straw will uncover details about Jakesh and the true story behind Roman and Pavlena. You may also consult with Thrush to decide Straw's fate. After these discussions, proceed to the rocks south of Zhelejov to advance your investigation.

Confront Ota

Confronting Ota in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2Navigate through the objective area, circling a large boulder until you find a path. Ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. High Charisma is necessary to pass the dialogue checks, but choosing the following options will persuade Ota to release Pavlena:

  • “What’s your name?”
  • “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
  • “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”

Once Ota complies, Pavlena will seize the opportunity to kill him. After this, speak with Pavlena and escort her back to Bozhena. Bozhena will then request you to deal with Jakesh.

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace

Decision Point: Kill Jakesh or Make Peace in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2The final decision in the quest involves choosing between killing Jakesh or negotiating peace. Locate Jakesh at his child's grave on the farm. You can either slay him or engage in dialogue to broker peace. Alternatively, you can choose to eliminate Bozhena instead, which will also conclude the quest. In my experience, I opted to kill Jakesh and informed Bozhena, which earned me a reward.

Should You Kill Jakesh?

Opting to kill Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz, but it will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll also unlock new dialogue with Pavlena and receive a necklace that Roman had given her as a gift.

If you choose to spare Jakesh and facilitate peace, he will offer you 100 groschen. Upon reporting back to Bozhena, you can decide whether to keep the money or share it with her. This choice will allow Bozhena and Pavlena to return to the settlement.
