KOF ALLSTAR Service Closure Announced
The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, is shutting down on October 30th, 2024. Netmarble, the game's developer, announced the closure on their official forums. In-app purchases have already been disabled.
This news comes as a surprise, given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations with other fighting game franchises. The developer cited a lack of new fighters to adapt from the King of Fighters roster as a contributing factor to the closure, although this likely isn't the sole reason.
What's Next?
The closure of King of Fighters ALLSTAR sadly continues a trend of long-running mobile live-service games ending this year. It underscores the challenges of maintaining these titles, even within the lucrative mobile gaming market.
