League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback
League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests, responding directly to player feedback. Read on to learn about this update and other changes coming to LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, Hextech Chests are making a comeback to League of Legends. In a developer update posted on February 27, 2025, Riot Games announced the return, accompanied by a video update on their YouTube channel.Riot acknowledged that recent changes hadn't resonated with the community, stating, "We've heard your feedback, and it's clear we need to adjust in several areas." The return of Hextech Chests was a key request: "Many players valued Hextech Chests not just for rewards, but for the sense of rewarding progression they offered. We underestimated their importance, leading to changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two earnable through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Fan Feedback Implemented
Riot Games announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming to "better deliver on its core fantasy." The entire Exalted skin line will also be delayed, meaning the planned release of one skin per act this year has been revised.
Responding to further community feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about a lack of Mythic Essence in the paid pass and the number of champions per seasonal theme.
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Finally, in response to player concerns, Clash will return to its monthly schedule. March will feature an ARURF Clash, followed by a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are also making a comeback. Your Shop is slated for patch 25.06, with the Emporium arriving in 25.07.
Riot Games concluded, "Improving League is an ongoing process. Today's updates are a significant step, and we'll continue monitoring player feedback and making adjustments." This response demonstrates Riot's commitment to incorporating player feedback into the game's development.
