Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand despite initial technical hurdles and controversy. This achievement highlights a successful return for the classic action title.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for No More Heroes), the game features cheerleader Juliet Starling battling zombies with a chainsaw. While the original developers weren't involved in the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via Twitter.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Lollipop Chainsaw casts players as Juliet, a high school cheerleader who discovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Players utilize Juliet's chainsaw in fast-paced, hack-and-slash combat reminiscent of Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold over one million copies, a testament to its unique appeal. This success was likely fueled by the collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, the RePOP remaster's sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult classics. This positive trend is further evidenced by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title, on modern platforms.
